Tele-Rolleiflex 2406, Photo F.W. Stutterheim
Early Tele-Rolleiflex № 2302341 with ‘half moons’ below the strap holders. It has no Rolleikin knob. Perhaps it was replaced by an earlier owner or the camera was ordered without the Rolleikin knob. A dedicated Rolleinar 0.7 is mounted.

Common Particulars: Serial number with prefix ‘S’. The Tele-Rolleiflex was based on the Rolleiflex E. All Tele’s can accept an E-type exposure meter. The meter could be factory fitted. Model 1 Tele’s have ‘half moons’3 under the strap holders. Model 2 cameras have no ‘half moons’. Focusing range ∞ - 2.6 m. Bayonet III. Synchro-Compur MXV CR0 shutter, M and X sychronisation, delayed action shutter release.

Common Particulars: Classic ‘alligator’-style strap holders like 2.8 F. Bayonet IV. The T-Apogon lens is said to be similar to the Tele-Xenar. That makes sense. All lenses were produced at the Rolleiflex factory. My guess is they are exactly the same, except for he trade name. TTL Exposure meter, TTL flash meter, automatic flash metering from the film plane.

Notes

[1]
Features are described to distinguish between cameras from a single production run or in case of special interest. Back
[2]
In 1970/1 a shiny silver name plate with small print around the taking lens was introduced. This was just a purely cosmetic change. Later it became the sought after "White-face". Back
[3]
This information about the ‘half moons’ is unreliable. I recently saw pictures of Tele-Rolleiflex Model 1, № S 2303631 without the ‘half moons’ and without the ‘ear’ of the 12/24 exposures film transport and with the flat glass three-way back. Back
