Rolleiflex T
Rolleiflex T ‘White-face’. This is the Rolleiflex T with № 2316388 (see note 5). It is one of the ‘last made’ T’s fitted with a Tessar, before the switch to Xenar. The Synchro-Compur XV shutter cover shows a ‘V’ and a flash sign. ‘V’ stands for delayed action (Germ: ‘Vorlaufwerk’, the timer that runs before the shutter is released).

Notes

Features are described to distinguish between cameras from a single production run or in case of special interest. Back
[2]
Prochnow states № T 2,155,999 as the highest serial number of the first post-war model Rolleiflex T. This is probably wrong. I was contacted by he owner of Rolleiflex T with grey leather № T 2,156,907, so № T 2,156,999 is more likely to be the highest serial number. Back
[3]
From № T 2,151,000 the Rolleiflex T is prepared for the Rolleikin set. The cameras are fitted with the Rolleikin dual format back and the finder is fit to accept the Rolleikin masks. The masks are seperately sold as Rolleikin set. The set may or may not contain the Rolleikin counter knob. Exchanging a film spool holder for the counter knob has to be done by the user. That involves no more than loosening three little screws, exchanging the knob and fastening three different screws. The counter knob needs 3 longer screws! When buying a knob, make sure the 3 long screws and the leather cover disk are included in the sale. The leather disk is just cosmetic, the counter knob without its screws is useless. Back
[4]
In 1970/1 a shiny silver name plate with small print around the taking lens was introduced. This was just a purely cosmetic change. Later it became the sought after "White-face". Back

After the remaining stock of Tessars had been used, the Xenars of the Rolleicord were mounted. That was around № 2315362. The owner of that camera, my friend Emmanuel Bigler, contributor to this website, claims to own the last made Tessar fitted Rolleiflex T. He purchased it as a user camera and now it has turned into a collector’s item :-). Well, sort of the last one, that is. In January 2017 I received an e-mail from the owner of Rolleiflex T № T 2316388. It is fitted with a Tessar. That was not he end of this story. 31 December 2021 I was advised that Rolleiflex T № T 2316442 had been listed on Ebay. It had Tessar № 5374394. Back
